Narwhals are difficult to study because they are notoriously shy and skittish and spend most of their time deep in the freezing Arctic Ocean. They tend to summer in glacial fjords around Greenland and Canada, but scientists often have trouble getting close enough to study them. 1. COMPLETING THE TRE CIME DI LAVAREDO LOOP
The soaring peaks of Tre Cime lie in a desolate rock-strewn region of the Dolomites. The three towers that rise above a sea of boulders and scree slopes have become an iconic image of the region. The most famous view of the peaks – standing tall above Rifugio Locatelli – can only be reached on foot. But what a journey it is.
This three and a half hour circuit around the three towering monoliths is relatively easy and follows clearly marked paths. But in spite of its simplicity, it traverses some of the most dramatic scenery in the Dolomites.
The views are instantaneous. Beginning at Rifugio Auronzo, the pointy Cadini group create a jagged line against the blue sky. Within an hour the trail passes over Forcella Lavaredo. Here, a phenomenal view of hundreds of majestic peaks in a variety of twisted shapes lined the horizon like a crumbling forest of rocky skyscrapers.

Big Grams is a collaboration between Greenwich, New York indie electronic duo Phantogram (Sarah Barthel and Josh Carter) and rapper Big Boi (Antwan Patton) of Atlanta-based hip-hop duo OutKast, in which the artists allow themselves to venture out of their respective comfort zones and experiment with ideas they wouldn't have explored with their own projects. The two acts connected after Big Boi discovered Phantogram's music via an Internet pop-up ad; he posted about their music online, and the duo, who counted OutKast as one of their biggest influences, responded enthusiastically.

The Mint Julep
Ingredients:
- 1-ounce mint simple syrup
- 2 fresh mint leaves
- 2 ounces Kentucky bourbon
- crushed ice
- a drizzle of hibiscus syrup
- a sprig of fresh mint
Directions:
The Mint Julep is a cocktail built in the glass it is served in, which makes for a rather simple, straightforward, and refreshing drink.
- Muddle two (2) mint leaves into the bottom of a glass, add simple syrup and stir.
- Top with crushed ice and a measurement of your choice of Kentucky bourbon.
- Using a long-handled bar spoon stir ice until the glass is cold. Drizzle a 1/2 ounce of hibiscus syrup.
- Garnish with a sprig of fresh mint.
- Serve.
